  Function in Host
Mitochondrial membrane ATP synthase produces ATP from ADP in the presence of a proton gradientacross the membrane which is generated by electron transport complexesof the respiratory chain. F-type ATPases consist of two structuraldomains, F (1) - containing the extramembraneous catalytic core, andF (0) - containing the membrane proton channel, linked together by acentral stalk and a peripheral stalk. During catalysis, ATP synthesisin the catalytic domain of F (1) is coupled via a rotary mechanism ofthe central stalk subunits to proton translocation. Subunits alpha andbeta form the catalytic core in F (1). Rotation of the central stalkagainst the surrounding alpha (3) beta (3) subunits leads to hydrolysis ofATP in three separate catalytic sites on the beta subunits.

Function of This Protein During Virus Infection
Virus NameSARS-COV-2 Protein Function Anti-viral [1]
Infected TissueLung Infection Time7-9 Days
Infected CellCalu-3 Cells (Human epithelial cell line) Cellosaurus IDCVCL_0609
Method DescriptionTo detect the role of host protein ATP5F1B in viral infection, ATP5F1B protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen.
ResultsIt is reported that knockout of ATP5F1B increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group.
