  Function in Host
Catalyzes the final rate-limiting step of glycolysis bymediating the transfer of a phosphoryl group from phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) to ADP, generating ATP. The ratio between the highly active tetrameric formand nearly inactive dimeric form determines whether glucose carbons arechanneled to biosynthetic processes or used for glycolytic ATPproduction. Thetransition between the 2 forms contributes to the control of glycolysisand is important for tumor cell proliferation and survival. [1-4]
