  Function in Host
Plays an important role in the ligand-dependent activation ofestrogen receptor target genes. May play a role inthe silencing of fetal globin genes. Recruits the5FMC complex to ZNF148, leading to desumoylation of ZNF148 andsubsequent transactivation of ZNF148 target genes. Plays an important role in the tumorigenicity of glioblastoma cells. Binds to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC) and associates with themethylosome complex containing PRMT1, PRMT5, MEP50 and ERH. The CHTOP-methylosome complex associated with 5hmC is recruited to selectivesites on the chromosome, where it methylates H4R3 and activates thetranscription of genes involved in glioblastomagenesis. Function of This Protein During Virus Infection
Virus NameSARS-COV-2 Protein Function Anti-viral [4]
Infected TissueLung Infection Time7-9 Days
Infected CellCalu-3 Cells (Human epithelial cell line) Cellosaurus IDCVCL_0609
Method DescriptionTo detect the role of host protein CHTOP in viral infection, CHTOP protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen.
ResultsIt is reported that knockout of CHTOP increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group.
