  Function in Host
Reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate between ATPand various phosphogens (e. g. creatine phosphate). Creatine kinase isoenzymes play a central role in energy transductionin tissues with large, fluctuating energy demands, such as skeletalmuscle, heart, brain and spermatozoa. Acts as a keyregulator of adaptive thermogenesis as part of the futile creatinecycle: localizes to the mitochondria of thermogenic fat cells and actsby mediating phosphorylation of creatine to initiate a futile cycle ofcreatine phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Duringthe futile creatine cycle, creatine and N-phosphocreatine are in afutile cycle, which dissipates the high energy charge of N-phosphocreatine as heat without performing any mechanical or chemicalwork. Function of This Protein During Virus Infection
Virus NameSARS-COV-2 Protein Function Anti-viral [2]
Infected TissueLung Infection Time7-9 Days
Infected CellCalu-3 Cells (Human epithelial cell line) Cellosaurus IDCVCL_0609
Method DescriptionTo detect the role of host protein CKB in viral infection, CKB protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen.
ResultsIt is reported that knockout of CKB increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group.
