  Function in Host
In the cytoplasm, catalyzes the conversion of glucose-6-phosphate to fructose-6-phosphate, the second step in glycolysis, andthe reverse reaction during gluconeogenesis. Besidesit's role as a glycolytic enzyme, also acts as a secreted cytokine:acts as an angiogenic factor (AMF) that stimulates endothelial cellmotility. Acts as a neurotrophic factor, neuroleukin, for spinal and sensory neurons. It issecreted by lectin-stimulated T-cells and induces immunoglobulinsecretion. [1-4]

Function of This Protein During Virus Infection
Virus NameSARS-COV-2 Protein Function Pro-viral [5]
Infected TissueLung Infection Time24 h
Infected CellA549 Cells (Adenocarcinomic Human alveolar basal epithelial cell) Cellosaurus IDCVCL_H249
Method DescriptionTo detect the role of host protein GPI in viral infection, GPI protein knockout A549 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 24 h , and the effects on infection was detected through qRT-PCR.
ResultsIt is reported that knockdown of GPI leads to the reduced viral particles production 50% compared with control group.
