Function in Host |
Essential for cardiac morphogenesis, particularly for theformation of the right ventricle and of the aortic arch arteries. Required for vascular development and regulation of angiogenesis, possibly through a VEGF signaling pathway. Plays also an important rolein limb development, particularly in the establishment of anterior-posterior polarization, acting as an upstream regulator of sonichedgehog (SHH) induction in the limb bud. Is involved in thedevelopment of branchial arches, which give rise to unique structuresin the head and neck. Binds DNA on E-box consensus sequence 5'-CANNTG-3'.

Method Description | To detect the role of host protein HAND2 in viral infection, HAND2 protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen. | ||||||||
Results | It is reported that knockout of HAND2 leads to the decreased SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group. |
