Function in Host |
Exhibits both phospholipase A1/2 and acyltransferaseactivities. Shows phospholipase A1 (PLA1) and A2 (PLA2), catalyzing the calcium-independent release of fatty acids from the sn-1or sn-2 position of glycerophospholipids. For most substrates, PLA1 activityis much higher than PLA2 activity. Shows O-acyltransferase activity, catalyzing the transfer of a fatty acyl groupfrom glycerophospholipid to the hydroxyl group of lysophospholipid. Shows N-acyltransferase activity, catalyzing thecalcium-independent transfer of a fatty acyl group at the sn-1 positionof phosphatidylcholine (PC) and other glycerophospholipids to theprimary amine of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), forming N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine (NAPE), which serves as precursor for N-acylethanolamines (NAEs). Promotes keratinocyte differentiation via activationof TGM1.

Method Description | To detect the role of host protein PLAAT4 in viral infection, PLAAT4 protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen. | ||||||||
Results | It is reported that knockout of PLAAT4 increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group. |
