  Function in Host
Component of the signal recognition particle (SRP) complex, aribonucleoprotein complex that mediates the cotranslational targetingof secretory and membrane proteins to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). The SRP complex interacts with the signal sequencein nascent secretory and membrane proteins and directs them to themembrane of the ER. The SRP complex targets theribosome-nascent chain complex to the SRP receptor (SR), which isanchored in the ER, where SR compaction and GTPase rearrangement drivecotranslational protein translocation into the ER. Binds the signal recognition particle RNA (7SL RNA) in presence ofSRP68. Can bind 7SL RNA with lowaffinity. The SRP complex possiblyparticipates in the elongation arrest function. [1-4]

Virus NameSARS-COV-2 Protein Function Anti-viral [5]
Infected TissueLung Infection Time7-9 Days
Infected CellCalu-3 Cells (Human epithelial cell line) Cellosaurus IDCVCL_0609
Method DescriptionTo detect the role of host protein SRP72 in viral infection, SRP72 protein Knockdown Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen.
ResultsIt is reported that knockout of SRP72 increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group.
