Function in Host |
Component of the endosomal sorting complex required fortransport II (ESCRT-II), which is required for multivesicular body (MVB) formation and sorting of endosomal cargo proteins into MVBs. TheMVB pathway mediates delivery of transmembrane proteins into the lumenof the lysosome for degradation. The ESCRT-II complex is probablyinvolved in the recruitment of the ESCRT-III complex. The ESCRT-IIcomplex may also play a role in transcription regulation byparticipating in derepression of transcription by RNA polymerase II, possibly via its interaction with ELL. Required for degradation of bothendocytosed EGF and EGFR, but not for the EGFR ligand-mediatedinternalization. It is also required for the degradation of CXCR4. Required for the exosomal release of SDCBP, CD63 and syndecan.

Method Description | To detect the role of host protein SNF8 in viral infection, SNF8 protein knockdown Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen. | ||||||||
Results | It is reported that knockout of SNF8 increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group. |
