Function in Host |
Scaffolding component of the CCR4-NOT complex which is one ofthe major cellular mRNA deadenylases and is linked to various cellularprocesses including bulk mRNA degradation, miRNA-mediated repression, translational repression during translational initiation and generaltranscription regulation. Additional complex functions may be aconsequence of its influence on mRNA expression. Its scaffoldingfunction implies its interaction with the catalytic complex module anddiverse RNA-binding proteins mediating the complex recruitment toselected mRNA 3'UTRs. Involved in degradation of AU-rich element (ARE) -containing mRNAs probably via association with ZFP36. Mediates therecruitment of the CCR4-NOT complex to miRNA targets and to the RISCcomplex via association with TNRC6A, TNRC6B or TNRC6C. Acts as atranscriptional repressor. Represses the ligand-dependenttranscriptional activation by nuclear receptors. Involved in themaintenance of embryonic stem (ES) cell identity.

Method Description | To detect the role of host protein CNOT1 in viral infection, CNOT1 protein knockout Calu-3 Cells were infected with SARS-COV-2 for 7 - 9 Days , and the effects on infection was detected through CRISPR-based genome-wide gene-knockout screen. | ||||||||
Results | It is reported that knockout of CNOT1 increases SARS-CoV-2 RNA levels compared with control group. |
