Chaperone that expresses an ATPase activity. Involved inmaintaining mitochondrial function and polarization, downstream ofPINK1 and mitochondrial complex I. Is a negative regulator ofmitochondrial respiration able to modulate the balance betweenoxidative phosphorylation and aerobic glycolysis. The impact of TRAP1on mitochondrial respiration is probably mediated by modulation ofmitochondrial SRC and inhibition of SDHA.
