Chromatin-interacting protein that forms a stable heterodimerwith interleukin enhancer-binding factor 3/ILF3 and plays a role inseveral biological processes including transcription, innate immunityor cell growth. Essential for theefficient reshuttling of ILF3 (isoform 1 and isoform 2) into thenucleus. Together with ILF3, forms an RNA-binding complex that isrequired for mitotic progression and cytokinesis by regulating theexpression of a cluster of mitotic genes. Mechanistically, competeswith STAU1/STAU2-mediated mRNA decay. Plays also arole in the inhibition of various viruses including Japaneseencephalitis virus or enterovirus 71. [1-7]
